Our skin changes over time, losing its youthful look and giving way to brown spots, wrinkles and laxity. In recent years there have been a growing number of aesthetic procedures available to treat the skin. ActiveFX – the result of the latest advances in laser technology –yields remarkable, long lasting results with just one treatment. A highly effective procedure with minimal discomfort and downtime, ActiveFX is your single-treatment solution for beautiful, younger-looking skin.
Bruce I. Stark, M.D. personally performs all the procedures. He has been trained and certified by one of the most experienced practitioners of the ActiveFX laser in the country. He chose this type of laser because it provides remarkable improvements in skin texture, tone, and tightening with a quick recovery in comparision to other C02 laser treatments. Patients are able to get back to their daily routine in a short amount of time with a more youthful, refreshed appearance. Dr. Stark performs a complimentary one-on-one consultation to determine whether ActiveFX is the right procedure to improve those aspects of your appearance that you would most like to improve.
What is ActiveFX?
During an ActiveFX fractional resurfacing procedure, a low power laser light interacts with the skin’s surface, causing the upper layer to peel off and regenerate a layer of new, healthy skin.
With ActiveFX, only a fraction of the skin’s surface is treated. The laser beam is applied in a fractional pattern, leaving small “bridges” of untouched skin. This technique makes the healing process much faster and enables you to get back to normal activities sooner.
What are the benefits of ActiveFX?
ActiveFX produces a dramatic effect on the skin:
- Causes immediate skin tightening
- Reduces wrinkles and fine lines, and softens deeper frown lines
- Noticeably improves skin tone and texture
- Stimulates new collagen formation and plumps the skin
Results of treatment are long-term and, with proper sun protection, can last for up to two years, but many patients choose to repeat the procedure sooner in order to maintain the beneficial changes. Most effects of treatment become visible right away, whereas other – such as new collagen formation – build up gradually and result in continued smoothing over time. Therefore, most people continue to show improvement up to 6 months after the procedure.
What can you expect from ActiveFX?
Dr. Stark performs the procedure in the office with a topical anesthetic cream that is applied before the ActiveFX procedure begins. There is little to no pain associated with the procedure – most patients say they feel warmth similar to sunburn. You can drive yourself home after the procedure. With a gentle washing and moisturizing regimen, your photodamaged skin will begin to flake off within 2 days and pinkness should be gone in about a week.
